Mission

The mission of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TSCPP) Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program is to provide a comprehensive and supportive learning environment that will facilitate professional and personal growth while producing competent, ethically sound, culturally sensitive, and skilled counselors who are committed to serving the community and society at large.

There are different standards and rules for licensing in each state

What is the difference between a practicum and an internship?

  • Practicum, which is 100 hours, has more of a focus on observation of practitioners, with limited hands-on experience and intensive oversight. The practicum for the CMHC program involves 40 hours of direct client contact. So, it is much more than just observing with just much fewer hours.

  • Internship, which is 600 hours, is much more hands on, and the opportunity for the student to gain more in-depth experience.  While supervision will still be present, students are given more freedom to begin to develop their skill-sets while still receiving feedback throughout the program.  The internship is split into 2 distinct 15-week courses, during which students have to complete 300 hours each.
