Insta360 Nano S
Highlights
- Same camera as the Insta360 Nano, but much improved
- Uses iPhone gyroscope for stabilization
- Upgradable memory up to 128GB
Overview
Insta360 upgraded their entry-level Nano and Introduced the Nano S. So what changed?
The Nano S records video in much sharper and higher 4K resolution. The camera went from 8MP to 20MP (the minimum for decent 360 pictures). The camera now uses the iPhone gyroscope to stabilize the image. Memory capacity doubles (up to 128GB).
In addition to major hardware upgrades, the software also saw a tremendous boost. When livestreaming, you can force a perspective (determine what the "forward" view is that people are seeing). You can also show a multiview when livestreaming, which involves splitting the screen so that both camera views are showing. The Nano S also supports facetime, meaning you can video chat with someone in 360.
The Insta360 Nano S costs about twice as much as the Nano, but that still makes it tremendously cheaper than the nearest competitor on this list. At this point, the Nano seems dated and I would consider the Nano S to be the true entry-level device. The higher price tag should not even be a factor to consider.
